Tips For Skin on Summer
1.Stay hydrated. Your body tends to lose a lot of moisture in the summer, so it’s important to regularly replenish the H2O. Drink a lot of water and liquids and your skin will stay soft and moisturised as well.
2. Sun protection. If you can, try and stay indoors between 11am and 3pm. That’s when the sun’s rays are the strongest and can have an adverse effect on your skin. Also, don’t forget to apply that all-important sunscreen 30 minutes before you step out

Best Tips For Sugar Control
Eat Healthy. Whether you have type 1 or type 2 diabetes, a healthy diet can help you manage your glucose level. Monitoring your carb intake is especially important, as carbs can have a dramatic impact on your blood sugar. An ideal meal plan includes a variety of colorful veggies and fruits, as well as lean meats, dairy, nuts and grains. It may be helpful to divide your daily eating pattern into three meals with healthy snacks evenly spaced in between.
Get Fit. When combined with a healthy diet and medicine (when prescribed), exercise can help you reach and maintain a healthy weight, which, in turn helps to control blood sugar levels. Regular, moderate-intensity physical activity can improve your body’s sensitivity
to insulin and help your body better use glucose, particularly if you have type 2 diabetes.
Although regular exercise can help control blood sugar, it can also cause it to dip. Talk to your doctor to find out if you should test your glucose before and after being active. Don’t avoid exercise if it does cause drops in your blood sugar. Just make sure you have healthy snacks – like an apple or banana – on hand. Before beginning any exercise routine, talk to your doctor first.
Take Your Medications. Follow your treatment plan, and take your medicines as prescribed by your doctor – whether in the form of regular insulin injections or diabetes pills. If you take insulin, timing it around your meals is important. Talk to your doctor to determine when and how often you need it.
Track Your Blood Glucose Levels. A glucose meter is the most accurate way to keep track of your blood sugar levels, and it can help you make decisions about your daily care. Mayo Clinic recommends aiming for a blood glucose level between 70 to 130 mg/dL before meals. Talk to your doctor to determine your target range.
Get an A1C Test Twice a Year. A1C testing tracks your average blood sugar level over 3 months, and offers you an accurate snapshot of your blood sugar control over time. If you have diabetes, the American Diabetes Association recommends getting an A1C test at least twice a year if your glucose levels consistently stay at a healthy range. However, if you change medications or have trouble controlling blood sugar, you may need to be tested more often.
In the meantime, researchers will continue to improve and develop medicines to prevent and even halt neuropathy. Until then, vigilantly controlling your blood sugar levels will go a long way towards protecting, and possibly even preventing, nerve damage. Work closely with your healthcare team to create a treatment plan that helps you better manage your blood glucose levels.

Lip Tips

Tips that help:
• Drink plenty of water, thoroughly hydrate your skin, including lips.
• Avoid harsh weather. If this is impossible, make sure you always protect your lips by applying a lip balm.
• Try using the lip balms regularly. If you wait until you have chapped lips, the recovery will take longer.
• Try not to lick your lips or remove the skin with your fingers. It irritates the skin, and slows down any efforts we invest in lip care.
• Make sure you take vitamin supplements. Often, cracks in the corner of the mouth indicate a deficiency of Vitamin B2.
Start off with a lip scrub recipe:
Ingredients
• 1 teaspoon of honey
• 1 teaspoon of baking soda
• Olive oil
Mix honey and baking ingredients until the mass resembles a paste.
Apply the mix on your lips and leave it on for a couple of minutes.
Gently rub the lips.
Wash of with lukewarm water
Let the lips dry out and then apply olive oil. It will help the lips hydrate.
There is also a recipe that is very simple, too. Apply unsalted butter on your lips occasionally. That's it. It has the same effect as the olive oil.

History of Diwali
History of Diwali
The history of Diwali is replete with legends and these legends are moored to the stories of Hindu religious scriptures, mostly the Puranas. Though the central theme of all legends point out to the classic truth of the victory of the good over the evils, the mode of their presentation and the characters differ. Diwali, being the festival of lights, lighting the lamp of knowledge within us means to understand and reflect upon the significant purpose of each of the five days of festivities and to bring those thoughts in to the day to day lives.
The five day of Diwali :
The first day of Diwali is called Dhanvantari Triodasi or Dhanwantari Triodasi also called Dhan Theras. The second day of Diwali is called Narak Chaturdasi. It is the fourteenth lunar day (thithi) of the dark forthnight of the month of Kartik and the eve of Diwali. On this day Lord Krishna destroyed the demon Narakasur and made the world free from fear. The third day of Diwali is the actual Diwali. This is the day when worship for Mother Lakshmi is performed. On the fourth day of Diwali, Goverdhan Pooja is performed. The fifth day of the diwali is called Bhratri Dooj. It is a day dedicated to sisters.
Hindu Mythology
The Story of Rama and Sita:
Lord Rama was a great warrior King who was exiled by his father Dashratha, the King of Ayodhya, along with his wife Sita and his younger brother Lakshman, on his wife's insistence. Lord Rama returned to his Kingdom Ayodhya after 14 years of exile, in which he put an end to the demon Ravana of Lanka, who was a great Pundit, highly learned but still evil dominated his mind. After this victory of Good over Evil, Rama returned to Ayodhya. In Ayodhya, the people welcomed them by lighting rows of clay lamps. So, it is an occasion in honor of Rama's victory over Ravana; of Truth's victory over Evil.
The Story of King Bali and Vamana Avatar (the Dwarf):
The other story concerns King Bali, who was a generous ruler. But he was also very ambitious. Some of the Gods pleaded Vishnu to check King Bali's power. Vishnu came to earth in the form of a Vamana(dwarf) dressed as priest. The dwarf approached King Bali and said "You are the ruler of the three worlds: the Earth, the world above the skies and the underworld. Would you give me the space that I could cover with three strides?" King Bali laughed. Surely a dwarf could not cover much ground, thought the King, who agreed to dwarf's request. At this point, the dwarf changed into Vishnu and his three strides covered the Earth, the Skies and the whole Universe! King Bali was send to the underworld. As part of Diwali celebrations, some Hindus remember King Bali.
The Defeat of Narkasur by Lord Krishna:
Lord Vishnu in his 8th incarnation as Krishna destroyed the demon Narkasura, who was causing great unhappiness amongst the people of the world. Narkasura was believed to be a demon of filth, covered in dirt. He used to kidnap beautiful young women and force them to live with him. Eventually, their cries for rescue were heard by Vishnu, who came in the form of Krishna. First, Krishna had to fight with a five-headed monster who guarded the demon's home. Narkasura hoped that his death might bring joy to others. Krishna granted his request and the women were freed. For Hindus, this story is a reminder that good can still come out of evil.
Krishna and the Mountain:
In the village of Gokula, many years ago, the people prayed to the God Indra. They believed that Indra sent the rains, which made their crops, grow. But Krishna came along and persuaded the people to worship the mountain Govardhan, because the mountain and the land around it were fertile. This did not please Indra. He sent thunder and torrential rain down on the village. The people cried to Krishna to help. Krishna saved the villagers by lifting the top of the mountain with his finger. The offering of food to God on this day of Diwali is a reminder to Hindus of the importance of food and it is a time for being thankful to God for the bounty of nature.
Sikh Festival Diwali
In Sikh perspective, Diwali is celebrated as the return of the sixth Guru, Guru Hargobind Ji from the captivity of the city, Gwalior. To commemorate his undying love for Sikhism, the towns people lit the way to, Harmandhir Sahib (referred to as the Golden Temple), in his honour.
Jain Festival Diwali
Among the Jain festivals, Diwali is one of the most important one. For on this occasion we celebrate the Nirvana of Lord Mahavira who established the dharma as we follow it. Lord Mahavira was born as Vardhamana on Chaitra Shukla 13th in the Nata clan at Khattiya-kundapura, near Vaishali. He obtained Kevala Gyana on Vishakha Shukla 10 at the Jambhraka village on the banks of Rijukula river at the age of 42.

Healthy Protein Tips
Protein supplies the basic building blocks of life. They are the body’s main structural element. The proteins, in its original form, are too large to be absorbed through the intestines. The body breaks them down into smaller components called amino acids. The amino acids are small enough to penetrate the intestinal wall and are absorbed into the blood stream. The amino acids are used to build and maintain the body’s structure. The amino acids not used for this are used for energy. When you look in the mirror you are seeing protein in action. Your hair, eyes, skin, bones, heart, veins, muscles and genes that carry your personal blueprint are made of protein. While other foods are important, it is protein that actually builds your muscles.
Protein gives your body what is necessary for growth, recovery and repair. We need protein for growth. Enough intake of protein is essential to our health. Protein is needed for:
Growth and development in child
Cell maintenance and repair
Regulation of body functions
Various tasks that fat and carbohydrates cannot do
Protein is consists of amino acids. Proteins from different types of foods contain different types of amino acids. These amino acids are used by our body to create protein that we need. Amino acids can be categorized into two broad types, non-essential amino acids and essential amino acids.

Essential amino acids are provided from our daily diets. Our body cannot create these amino acids from other amino acids. Unlike essential amino acids, our body can make non-essential amino acids from other amino acids that we consume. The daily intake of protein can be up to 15% of the total nutrients we eat. One way to work out how much protein you need for a day is multiply your weight with 0.75 protein per day. So if you weight about 51kg, you need about 38g of protein a day. If you weight about 70kg, you need slightly more than 52g of protein a day.

How to remove tan
1.Sunscreen timings: Exposure to sun is one of the major factors that cause tanning. Hence, when travelling wear a sunscreen that has a sun protection factor or SPF of at least 15. The intensity of the sun is greatest between ten in the morning to four in the evening therefore if you can try and reapply sunscreen.
2. Bleach naturally: Natural bleaching agents can be used thrice a week to cleanse your face. Mix 4 tbsp milk, 1 tbsp honey and 2 tbsp lemon juice and apply the mixture evenly on the tanned areas for 15 minutes. Once dried, wash with cold water. This works best for greasy and oily skin.
3. Cleanse well: A yogurt and honey cleanser can do wonders to de-tan your skin. Mix 4 tbsp plain yogurt, 2 tbsp honey, 3 tbsp lime juice, add a little cornstarch, if you think the paste needs thickening. Apply on your face and massage for 2-3 minutes. Rinse with cold water.
4. Papaya can work: Rub raw papaya juice or ripe papaya pulp on the skin, as it helps to lighten the dark patches on your face. Application of tea tree oil on affected areas, especially areas affected by pigmentation, is beneficial. You can add extracts of basil leaves in this for the better results.
5. Face and Neck :
First, remember that fake tan is least effective on the face and within 24 hours, the tan will have already toned down in color so if at all possible, try to leave it alone and counter with some judicious use of make-up. If you are desperate, try massaging baking soda into your damp skin (e.g. in the shower), using small, gentle circles. This has an exfoliating action which will remove any dead skin that is ready to be sloughed off. This treatment will help greatly with any “blotchiness” that comes from fake tanning products. If the color is even but simply unnatural, moisten a cotton pad with alcohol-free toner or a liquid make-up remover and wipe it gently over your face and neck. Alternatively, find a product containing Alpha- or Beta-Hydroxy Acid solution and apply before bedtime – you should see an improvement in the morning.
6.Hands and Feet:
For orange palms and soles, body hair bleach can be very effective. Apply to the stained areas, leave for about 10 minutes and then rinse off thoroughly. If other, more sensitive, areas are stained such as wrists, knees and ankles, try the Alpha- or Beta-Hydroxy Acid solution. Ordinary hydrogen peroxide (such as from your First Aid kit) can also work, although make sure that it is no older than 6 months old because otherwise, it will be ineffective. While it may not work immediately, it should help to lighten the tan more quickly if you keep applying it daily to restricted areas.
Note that hydrogen peroxide is a very powerful chemical and can harm the skin through free radical damage – therefore, it should NEVER be applied to large areas of the body. Remember to always test a small area of skin first when using any chemical as they can cause severe irritation. In addition, never use different products at the same time (eg. hydrogen peroxide and body hair bleach) on the same area of skin.
Fingernails and Toenails :
Again, body hair bleach can work well on stained toenails and cuticles. For fingernails, try soaking them in a bowl of denture cleaner.
Underarms:
An area that often has to endure constant shaving and deodorising, it is no surprise that the skin around the underarms can look strange and absorb fake tans badly, causing a ring to form around the underarm. It is best to gently exfoliate the area using a scrubbing cloth.
Knees and Elbows:
Again, exfoliation with a scrubbing cloth is a good solution and you can do it quite vigorously with something like a sisal scrubbing cloth. However, never rub your skin red.
Torso, Legs and Arms :
These parts of the body need more gentle treatment so it is best to coat yourself in baby oil, followed by a long bath during which you can exfoliate very gently with a cotton washcloth. Daily soaking in a bathtub will also help reduce all-over “orangeness”. Swimming will also help to tone down the colour. Remember to keep your skin moisturised at all times and to always be as gentle as possible. Raw, red skin is no more attractive than orange skin!

Easy Gym Tips
Do Something You Enjoy
Exercise doesn't have to mean spending hours at the gym peddling away on a stationary bike. It doesn’t mean you have to spend money on exercise gadgets you will likely never use, either. Anything you do to get your body moving is going to be better than doing nothing. Walking is an easy exercise that you can do just about anywhere, in any climate. Bike riding, dancing, gardening, weight lifting, swimming, playing a favorite sport, house cleaning and even playing in the yard with your children are just some of the ways you can add exercise into your daily routine.Schedule Time for Exercise
As you would a meeting or a doctor appointment, sometimes the only way to make time to exercise is to put it on your daily schedule. We’ve all got busy lives and we’re often so busy taking care of others that we never seem to make time for ourselves. Once exercise becomes part of your daily To-Do list, you’re more likely to do it. Some people have only a certain time during the day available for exercise while others will have to vary the time each day. Some people need a nudge and for them, exercising with a friend is a good solution. Choose whichever way works best for you. Just remember to actually go and do it!Remember that Exercise Can Energize
Even though you might feel too tired to exercise, give it a try anyway. You might be surprised to find how energized you feel while you’re at it and afterwards, when you’re finished. Exercise is a great stress-reliever too and if you know anything about stress, you know that it is one of the body’s biggest energy-sappers.Don’t be Afraid to Mix it up
Like anything that is done over and over again, exercise can become mundane. When you get bored with exercising, you’re less likely to keep at it. To keep from getting bored with your workout routine, change it. If you’re tired of walking, try cycling. If you’re into weight lifting, try alternating this with cardiovascular exercises throughout the week. Go bowling or play a game of tennis once in a while, and if you find you enjoy these types of activities, join up with a team.
Always Begin by Warming up
Regardless of the type of exercise you choose, it is very important that you begin each session by warming up your muscles. Stretching helps prevent damage to muscle tissue and it gets your blood flowing. It gets your heart pumping, too. Just five minutes is all it takes to get your exercise session off to a good start.Thursday, 11 October 2012

Hair Loss Tips
1. Hot oil treatments: Take any natural oil - olive, coconut, canola - and heat it up so that it is warm, but not too hot. Massage it gently into your scalp. Put on a shower cap
and leave it on for an hour, then shampoo your hair. 2. Natural juices: You can rub your scalp with either garlic juice, onion juice or ginger juice. Leave it on overnight and wash it thoroughly in the morning. 3. Get a head massage: Massaging your scalp for a few minutes daily will help stimulate circulation. Good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Circulation may be improved through massage by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base. 4. Antioxidants: Apply warm green tea (two bags brewed in one cup of water) on your scalp and leave this mixture on for an hour and then rinse. Green tea contains antioxidants which prevent hair loss and boost hair growth. 5. Practice meditation: Believe it or not, most of the times, the root cause for hair loss is stress and tension. Meditation can help in reducing that and restore hormonal balance.
